New College of Florida wants your feedback as we redesign the College’s
logo. We'll use this blog for comments and feedback as well as to keep you informed about the latest in the redesign process. Currently our logo is used in two versions shown below, one with the Four Winds seal and one without. It is important to note that the Four Winds seal will NOT be redesigned. It will continue to be used in a number of official capacities.
It is not all all clear to me how the new logo proposals better embody the goals, than does the current logo (with the original "Four Winds" instead of a simplified/stylized "four winds"). I actually like the present design better.
ReplyDeleteIn all designs I would prefer the original "4 winds" icon to the new one. I agree the original looked less ecclesiastical, more elegant and newer. I agree that another graphic designer might come up with a stronger design. Of the 4 shown, here are my comments:
ReplyDeleteA: My first choice of the 4 because it has a classic look and is legible. I like the "4 winds" icon to be blue, but gray would match the campus signs better. I would prefer version A without the horizontal line.
B: I don't like the vertical "NEW": too separated from COLLEGE.
C: "NEW" is hard to read and isn't part of COLLEGE. Don't like the script.
D: My 2nd choice, because it is appealing to the eye, but "of Florida" is hard to read. Still don't like script.
I know it's a tough job to replace our defining logo. Thanks to all who have invested time and thought in this.
Hi, and thanks to the committee for all the work I know it must have been to get to this point. Of the four, I like the font and size of logo to B best, but think the NEW should be on the same line as COLLEGE. A is my second choice, but think the logo should be blue and as large as the two lines of type, and that the horizontal line should be removed. C&D would not be my choices. ReplyDeleteLike the old one best. "A" looks like a film reel as is (suggestions to amend below). B's font on NEW looks strange, ad-like (New! Improved!) C is too cluttered. D really doesn't look professional. Would prefer the NEW in B to have same-width letters as other words. But if you took the basics
ReplyDeleteof A & moved the OF FLORIDA to be centered under the line & didn't connect the 4 winds logo part to the line & made it bigger & going from top of NEW COLLEGE to bottom of OF FLORIDA, I think that would be the best. --New College art grad
